Check the Weight First
Every item shows its weight. Small, high-value loot like hard drives and phones beats bulky, cheap items like books or a microwave.
Greed gets you caught, noise gets you found. These tips turn the game's own rules into an edge โ whichever side you're on.

You have minutes to loot and something is hunting you. Play smart, not greedy.
Every item shows its weight. Small, high-value loot like hard drives and phones beats bulky, cheap items like books or a microwave.
Chases come down to stamina. In the shop (M), sprint speed and stamina are the upgrades that help you most against the monster.
The monster hears your footsteps โ players say they sound like gunshots. Crouch (Ctrl) when it's near, and stay quiet on voice chat.
A closet only works if the monster didn't watch you get in. Break line of sight first, then hide.
Hold left mouse on a vent's bolts to open it. Vents give you a hiding route most players ignore โ but the unscrewing can be heard.
Exits are sealed at the start. When the timer is nearly done, move toward an exit; maps have more than one, so the monster can't guard them all.
Once the exits open and your bag is full, go. Waiting for one more item is how players get caught at the door.
Players who hide all round often survive but leave with nothing. Loot first, and hide when the monster gets close.
Teammates can revive you when you go down. The developer's advice still applies: bring friends, don't trust them.
As the entity, sound is your best weapon. Attack with left click.
You can hear looters' footsteps and voices โ and the sound of a vent being unscrewed. Pause and listen before you pick a direction.
Closets, lockers and vents are where quiet trails end. Looters who hide in full rooms are your easiest catches.
Sprinting drains your stamina. A looter who's been standing still has more of it, so don't waste a full sprint on a long chase you can't win.
Looters carrying heavy loot run slower โ they're the easiest targets to run down.
When the exits open, looters head for the doors. Being near an exit is a good way to catch the ones who waited too long.
The shop has entity upgrades like hunting speed and endurance โ useful against looters who've maxed out sprint and stamina.
Quick decisions for the most common situations.
| Situation | Do This | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ๐น Monster nearby | Stop running, stay silent | It hears footsteps and voices |
| ๐ Being chased | Break off into a closet, vent or barricaded room | Official hiding options |
| ๐ฅ Rare loot, monster close | Wait or take lighter loot | Rarer loot slows you down |
| ๐ฅ Rare loot, path clear | Grab it | Rarer loot means a bigger payout |
| โฑ๏ธ Time running low | Stop exploring, focus on loot you can reach | Rounds last only minutes |
| ๐ Bag is full | Only grab big items worth carrying in your hands | Extra items go in your hands and add weight |
| ๐ช Exits about to open | Move close to an exit the monster isn't near | There's more than one exit |
| ๐ค Teammate down | Revive them if the monster isn't close | Teammates can revive downed players |
| ๐ฎโ๐จ Out of stamina | Hide instead of running | You can't outrun the monster on empty |

Fully supported on PC.
Playable on console.
Keep noise down, because the monster hears footsteps and voices. Don't overload on heavy loot when you need to escape, and break line of sight before you hide in a closet or vent.
Not always. Check each item's weight first. Rarer loot pays more, but heavy items slow you down, so small high-value items are usually the best grabs.
As a looter, sprint speed and stamina from the shop help most, because chases come down to stamina. The skill tree also has options like silent movement and faster looting.
No. Hiding all round may keep you alive, but you leave with no loot. Loot first, and hide when the monster gets close.
Listen for footsteps, voices and vents being unscrewed, check closets and vents, save your stamina for chases you can win, and go after looters carrying heavy loot.
Rare events are special round events. The official page lists Full Blackout, Bloodbath and Malfunction among them. The developer has not published exactly what each event does.
