The game controls the monster, so every player is a looter. In the rounds we reviewed, the AI kept patrolling near players who were hiding, which many players found scarier than a human monster.
One player is picked to be the entity — this is the only way to play as the monster. The in-game shop sells a 2x Entity Chance pass for Robux to raise your odds.

There are two sides. Looters have minutes to steal loot from a building and escape, and the monster plays as the entity and hunts the other players.
In the lobby, players vote on the map and on the round type: Entity AI or Entity Player. You can only be chosen as the monster in Entity Player rounds. The in-game shop also sells a 2x Entity Chance pass for Robux.
In Entity AI rounds the game controls the monster and everyone is a looter. In Entity Player rounds one player is chosen to be the monster.
Steal Or Die has 4 entities. The official Roblox page names two of them: The Locust and The Hollow. The Hollow is the entity most players get by default.
According to the official description, the monster hears your footsteps and your voice, so running and talking can give away your position.
Not always. You can hide in closets and vents and close doors, but the monster can open closets and pull you out, especially if it saw you go in.
